Oysters for new year

IMGP4854

We opened these, added a dash of white wine, a little cream and some grated cheese, then grilled them, to eat at the start of an evening at home with friends that saw us at midnight toasting 2011 with Blanquette de Limoux – a methode champagnoise wine from the Aude which I think is as good as champagne – and Cava, a similar and equally good Catalan wine.

Happy new year!

Blwyddyn newydd dda!

Bonne année!

Bona annada!

To complete the Occitan new year greeting, I’ll wish all you gardeners Bona annada, plan granada (a happy new year, full of fruitfulness, or literally with many grains or seeds).

I was excited to find yesterday that my food photos, submitted for the December assignment, are reviewed on the Guardian Camera Club website here

I love oysters but just can't afford them here in the UK:( The quicker we make the move to France permanent the better, then I can also boast about oysters. Never mind we are having cassoulet tonight instead to warm us up:) Bonne année,

Diane

That sounds delicious! I wish I could get fresh oysters where I live, but it only happens when we take trips to the beach.

Thanks for participating in this month's How to Find Great Plants. The latest issue is out today and this is the link:

Love oysters. We get our from the Oregon and Washington coasts and they are good.

Your gastronomical adventures always whet my appetite. I'm glad to see your delicious photos are being given the recognition they deserve. I love your new year's wish with "many grains or seeds". What more could a gardener need?
